CENTROSOLAR inaugurates photovoltaic system on its own factory roof
CENTROSOLAR Group AG has installed a photovoltaic system with a peak capacity of 300 KWp on the roof of the solar power plant Sonnenstromfabrik in Wismar. Covering an area of 11,000 square metres, 1,565 solar modules were installed on the warehouse/production hall. Following its extension in 2008, the solar power plant’s annual capacity of 150 MWp (as of 2010) makes it one of the largest and most modern factories in Germany.
The system produces in excess of 276,000 kWh of electricity per year. The annual saving of harmful CO2 greenhouse gases amounts to over 180 tonnes. This adds up to 3,600 tonnes of CO 2 emissions saved over the system’s expected minimum service life of 20 years. "The photovoltaic system on the Sonnenstromfabrik helps us reduce our carbon footprint. Our energy company champions active climate protection on two levels. On the one hand, we manufacture high-quality photovoltaic modules, and on the other hand we reduce the emissions arising throughout the production process with the help of our own solar system", reports Dr. Alexander Kirsch, CEO of CENTROSOLAR Group AG. The company expects to produce a minimum of 10% of its own annual energy requirements. The solar power plant produces crystalline quality modules using state-of-the-art production equipment. Since May of this year, production is running at full capacity at 110 MWp.
In assembling the solar energy system, the CENTROSOLAR Group availed itself of the products of its own subsidiaries: The modules adorning the roof of the production hall were manufactured in the very same hall. The crystalline quality modules are Centrosolar S-Class Ultra and S-Class Professional modules in the 180 to 240 Wp performance classes. The assembly systems were contributed by Renusol, another subsidiary, which supplied the Console fastening system that was easy and quick to install on the flat roof of the production hall. 135 tonnes of pebbles were required to weigh down the 1,565 consoles. The consoles on the roof have been arranged in 41 rows. The attached modules face south at an angle of 25 degrees. In terms of inverters, CENTROSOLAR chose its own Powerstocc brand.
