SCHOTT Solar off to a successful start in Japan
SCHOTT Solar AG has gotten off to an excellent start in the Japanese market. The high-quality German manufacturer’s participation in the PV Expo trade fair in Tokyo from February 29 – March 2 that generated a lot of attention clearly shows how German engineering still meets with great interest in the Land of the Rising Sun.

SCHOTT Solar modules even stand up to air that contains salt
SCHOTT Solar AG again reports that its quality strategy has been confirmed by TÜV Rheinland: the modules from the SCHOTT PERFORM POLY series have now passed the salt spray corrosion test at the most difficult level of 6. This test came into effect in December 2011 as the IEC standard 61701: 2011 Ed.2. The company received the official certificate from TÜV Rheinland at the end of February. Furthermore, SCHOTT Solar will be submitting a declaration of identical construction for other models.

Schott stoppt Produktion von Solar-Silizium in Jena
Der Schott-Konzern (Mainz) zieht sich aus dem Geschäft mit Solar-Silizium zurück. Die Produktion von Siliziumscheiben (Wafer) für Solarzellen, die seit 2008 in Jena mit hohen Investitionen aufgebaut worden war, sei nicht mehr wirtschaftlich und würde nicht weitergeführt, teilte die Schott Solar AG am Mittwoch mit. Davon betroffen seien etwa 290 Arbeitnehmer an dem Thüringer Standort, für die eine Weiterbeschäftigung in anderen Bereichen geprüft werde. Betriebsbedingte Kündigungen sollen vermieden werden.

SCHOTT Solar und Stadtwerke Mainz errichten Solarpark mit 5,6 Megawatt Leistung
In Ilfeld im Südharz errichtet die Mainz Solar GmbH derzeit eine Solarstromanlage mit 24.000 Modulen. Mainz Solar ist ein Gemeinschaftsunternehmen der Stadtwerke Mainz AG und der SCHOTT Solar AG. Projektentwickler und Generalunternehmer des Solarparks ist die 3 S Solarstrom GmbH. Nach ihrer geplanten Fertigstellung im Dezember 2011 soll die Photovoltaik-Anlage jedes Jahr etwa 5,25 Gigawattstunden (GWh) Solarstrom erzeugen und in das Netz der E.ON Thüringen einspeisen. Damit könnten rechnerisch alle rund 3.000 Ilfelder mit grünem Strom versorgt werden. Zudem lassen sich auf diese Weise etwa 3.200 Tonnen CO2-Ausstoß pro Jahr vermeiden.

Rückkontakt-Modultechnologie von Solland Solar und SCHOTT Solar erhält VDE-Zert.
Der Verband für Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik (VDE) hat das von Solland Solar (Heerlen/Aachen) und SCHOTT Solar (Mainz) gemeinsam entwickelte Rückkontakt-Solarmodul nach IEC-Norm 61215 ed.2 & 61730 zertifiziert.

Agritechnica 2011: SCHOTT Solar stellt Photovoltaik-Module vor
Die SCHOTT Solar AG präsentiert auf der Landtechnik-Ausstellung Agritechnica vom 15. bis 19. November in Hannover ihre Qualitätsmodule: Die Doppelglasmodule SCHOTT PROTECT ASI 107 und SCHOTT PROTECT POLY 185 sind speziell auf die Anforderungen im landwirtschaftlichen Einsatz abgestimmt. Darüber hinaus stellt der Solarhersteller das neue monokristalline Hochleistungsmodul SCHOTT PERFORM MONO vor. Das Unternehmen ist in Halle 21, Stand K18 vertreten.

Migros stattet Einkaufszentrum mit Solardach von SCHOTT aus
Mit ins Dach integrierten Photovoltaikmodulen des Technologiekonzerns SCHOTT hat die Migros-Gruppe ein neues Einkaufszentrum in Siders im Schweizer Kanton Wallis versehen. Die 312 „ASI“ Architekturmodule werden nach Schätzung von SCHOTT rund 10.000 Kilowattstunden Strom im Jahr erzeugen. Zudem sorgen sie für natürliche Beleuchtung und gleichzeitig Verschattung und fügen sich ästhetisch in die Gesamtarchitektur ein.

Kurzarbeit für 270 Beschäftigte - Womöglich droht das Aus Anfang 2012
"Schott Solar" in Alzenau Einst eine Vorzeige-Firma, jetzt droht vermutlich das Aus. Eine Schließung des Standortes Alzenau des Solarzellen-Herstellers "Schott Solar" Anfang 2012 scheint möglich. Sicher ist der Antrag auf Kurzarbiet von kommender Woche an für 270 der 450 Beschäftigten. Dies bestätigte am Mittwoch Unternehmenssprecher Klaus Hofmann auf Anfrage des Main-Echos.

More than 20 percent efficiency: SCHOTT Solar sets new record
SCHOTT Solar has achieved yet another top performance. The solar company based in Mainz, Germany, has succeeded in manufacturing the world’s first industrial size 156 mm x 156 mm monocrystalline screen-printed solar cell that achieves 20.2 percent efficiency. This measurement was confirmed independently by Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany at the request of SCHOTT Solar.

SCHOTT Solar launches operation of own photovoltaic array
SCHOTT Solar AG has started operating a photovoltaic array at its German SmartSolarFab production facility in Alzenau after a four-month installation period. The photovoltaic array produces enough electricity to power 200 residential homes, cutting annual CO2 emissions by 400 tons in the process. The CO2 saving equals the carbon offset by 32,000 trees.
